UP Social Media Policy Will Pay Upto 8 Lakhs to YouTube and Instagram Influencers

UP social media policy is creating a lot of buzz in the influencer industry. Being a social media influencer is the next big career opportunity in the country, many youngsters are choosing this career option hoping to turn their online presence into a profitable venture. Brands pay influencers a handsome amount to promote their products or services. Now with this rise in the influencer industry political parties are also interested in hiring influencers to boost government schemes and their political campaigns. The Uttar Pradesh government has recently introduced new UP social media policy, which will provide benefits to some influencers but also comes with strict regulation.

UP Social Media Policy 2024

Up Government has released its new social media policy, there are different aspects of this policy let’s discuss them below:

UP Government led by CM Yogi Adityanath will hire agencies, influencer depending on their followers and reach to promote government schemes and policies to masses, influencers from social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, Instagram could get a maximum payment of ₹5 lakh, ₹4 lakh, ₹3 lakh, and ₹2 lakh rupees respectively all depending on the number of followers.

Whereas on YouTube stakes are even higher. The influencers and agencies could potentially earn ₹8 lakh, ₹7 lakh, ₹6 lakh and ₹4 lakh respectively for creating videos, shorts, and podcast, again depending on the follower base. Through this new policy UP government wants to reach large number of audience to promote government schemes, and effectively communicate across various digital platforms.

However UP social media policy also includes strict regulations like agencies and influencer are not allowed to post any objectionable and anti-national content on social media, If they’ll post something anti-national or objectionable, the agency or influencer could face a criminal lawsuit and there are punishments ranging from 3 years to life imprisonment.

Public Reactions and Concerns

The UP Social Media Policy has gathered mixed reactions from the public. On one hand, many people are supporting this idea as objectionable and fake content would be stopped, as it is very difficult to identify the genuine content because of the increase in the AI generated fake videos and news.

On the other hand many thinks It is still very unclear what comes under objectionable and anti-national content, as influencer are unsure of what is allowed and what could land them in trouble. UP government should define proper guidelines for this also.
